Torstein Dale-Åkerlund
Department Chair
Torstein is the Department Chair for Department of Political Science and International Relations, a position he has held since the first program was established back in 2009.
His academic background is within Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies and International Relations. He graduated with a Master in International Affairs from the Australian National University (ANU) in 2008. Over the course of his studies and work, Torstein has had a geographical focus on Eastern and Southern Africa, where he has spent extended periods (including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa). He has field experience from Africa and the Middle East.
Torstein has extensive experience in project management and facilitation, course development and teaching. He also has experience in establishing and maintaining national and international institutional cooperation. As the Department Chair, Torstein’s main focus is on academic development and quality assurance, as well as daily operational work related to running the department.
