Project report – Phase 1, Collaboration between Oslo Nye University College and CEEI

Oslo New University College responded to an invitation from the Central European Educational Institute (CEEI) in November 2016 to establish a bilateral cooperation between the two institutions. Our first joint grant application was approved in December 2016. In April 2017 the first project was carried out in Bratislava. The Norwegian delegation was mainly functioning as academic consultats in the first phase of this collaboration.

Project report – Phase 1

Dates: 4-6 April, 2017.
Host: Central European Educational Institute (CEEI).
Venue: CEEI, Bratislava, Slovakia.
Title: Project 1: Economical and Political Perspectives – Democratic Transition in Ukraine.

In addidtion, a delegation from Ukraine was participating in the discussions.

Activities in project 1:

– Initial meeting: We started by introducing the various delegation members and presenting our institutions. It was useful to get to know each other before starting the academic discussions.

– Presentations: The Slovak delegation members gave presentations on various topics related to the focus of project 1. The presentations were indentifying useful tools for comparing and contrsting the Slovak democratic transition post-1989 to the present situation in Ukraine. The presentations were followed by comments and questions from the other delegation members.

– Discussion: In the third session we to identified some of the key challenges related to the Ukrainian conflict. The Ukarinian delegation shared their understanding of the situation, followed by remarks from delegation members from Slovakia and Norway.
